Ordinary day, or..?

Today was an ordinary day, or so I thought. Last week I talked with Melissa about our travels, and we decided some concrete things about our travel plans, today I added one thing to it, which I was thinking about for quite some time already, but never said it loudly, because of all the practical things which were holding me back. But I told myself I have to overcome this and just decide: I will make a world tour with the Saharagelber! Definitely. Probably not with Melissa, and that one was holding me back mainly, because she can’t leave for a such a long time and I want to be with her. I figured that I really want to do this, actually so much, that if she cannot go with me, I’d still want to go.. It will be hard, very hard for us.
But, she can be part of it of course for some time eventually by flying in where I am at a certain moment and travel along with me for one or two months. We can do it together some years later too, probably.

So, that being said, this makes for a lot of plans now.

2006: In about one month we will travel with the three of us (Melissa and our adopted child Ramon) to West Africa.

2007: Next year we will travel to Beijing via the silk road (I’ll drive back hopefully, Melissa and Ramon will fly back)

2008: The world tour (10-12 months). I was thing about driving via East Africa to Capetown, then to South America by boat, travel this continent and after that heading to North America, travel this continent and then ship the car back. It can also be done in two parts, spread over two years, this way Melissa can visit two times instead of one.
Well, time will tell if this all is going to happen. We first have to concentrate on our West Africa trip which is already coming closer…

    Hello my dear 300TD fellow,

I don’t know what you are up to at the moment. I am German, live in Australia at the moment and I have a white 300TD, 2nd series (1981).
Would be interested in your silk road experience as I have made some plans to do this in 2011.
If you want to come around to Australia during your world trip, you are most welcome.

Looking forward to hearing from you soon.
