Mercedes-Benz revealed the new 2017 GLS large SUV; Dodge announced that the 2016 Viper ACR destroyed some lap records; and Ford debuted the 2016 Mustang Cobra Jet. It's Week in Reverse, right here at Motor Authority.

Chevrolet's in the process of launching the new, sixth-generation Camaro, and with that comes a new COPO Camaro. Going on sale later this year, the COPO Camaro is a factory-built race car you can buy. They're designed for NHRA's Stock and Super Stock Eliminator classes, and only 69 will be built for the 2016 motorsport season.

Mercedes-Benz is phasing out The GL-Class that tops its SUV range as it introduces the new 2017 GLS. Essentially a refreshed GL-Class, the GLS ushers in Mercedes' new naming structure as it aligns the large GL with the large S-Class sedan. We'll see the big SUV in the metal this month at the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show.

The last-generation Dodge Viper ACR set lap records, and it should come as no surprise that the current generation did too. The new 2016 Viper ACR has set 13 production-car records at various tracks. What's more, the Viper ACR-starting at just under $123, 000-beat the lap times of hypercars that cost up to $1 million, including the Porsche 918 Spyder and the McLaren P1.

After a one-year hiatus, the Ford Mustang Cobra Jet is back, and it's quicker and more powerful than ever. Now capable of running an 8.0-second quarter mile straight from the factory, the new 2016 Mustang Cobra Jet revealed this week at SEMA is designed for the National Hot Road Association's Stock and Super Stock classes.
